After reading articles about 18 Central in Zest and Down East magazines, we were eager to dine there. Chef Patrick Duffy and his wife Jessica have created a restaurant that is unique, with very creative dishes and an ever-changing menu that keeps both locals and summer visitors flocking to this place. Be sure to get a reservation.

Awesome Maine Adventures Offered by Inns Along the Coast

Since Linda and I started our Travelin’ Maine(rs) weekly travel column 6 ½ years ago, we’ve been blessed to discover many hidden (and some not-so-hidden) gems. We’ve been particularly impressed by the historic inns in Rockland and Kennebunkport, and were pleased when they joined together in a new website, Inns Along the Coast, featuring lots of Maine adventures. Inns Along the Coast is Maine’s only coastal inn-to-inn association with inns in Kennebunkport, Freeport, Newcastle, Rockland, Camden and Bar Harbor

You too should dine at Jackie's Too

Jackie Bevins’ name was all over Ogunquit. Some of the signs said “Bring Back Bevins.” She was running for the town council where she had served sometime in the past. Jackie has also been serving meals here for 39 years, starting with a small restaurant on Main Street – hence, Jackie’s Too, the Perkins Cove restaurant where we dined.

Our birding adventure in Patagonia, AZ was fabulous

Three things drew us back to Tucson, Arizona this year: an amazing birding guide, Melody Kehl, awesome Mexican restaurants, and easy access to southeast Arizona.

After our first-ever trip here last year, we couldn’t wait to return. Our travel plans these days always include an overnight stay in a room with a beautiful view of the harbor at the Holiday Inn by the Bay in Portland, where they keep our car while we’re away and shuttle us to and from the airport. Trust me – this is the way to start your vacation.

Portland's Mekong Asian Bistro

After a long trip through the amazing and lengthy menu at Portland’s Mekong Asian Bistro, I looked up at Linda and said, “I’m lost honey. You’ll need to order for us.”

After looking through all the choices of Thai, Chinese, and Vietnamese appetizers and entrees, the only thing I was sure of was the Mai Tai ($6.95). That did turn out to be a very good choice.

We loved Portland's Mekong Asian Bistro!
