Angela Ferrari’s Children’s Books Are Enchanting and Extraordinary

Shortly after Angela Ferrari’s three children’s books arrived, Linda grabbed them and sat down in her kitchen rocking chair and dived into the first book, An Extraordinary Book!

I was sitting next to her, in my own rocking chair, when she dug my nose out of the newspaper to read the first book to me. Well, it turned out to be: perform the first book.

And quickly, we were both laughing. This is a delightful book. And there’s just one problem with it. We are both going to want to be the first one to read it to our three-year-old granddaughter Ada, when she arrives with her family to spend Christmas with us.

Before I knew it, Linda had read all three books and gotten out her laptop to write about them. Here’s what she wrote.

Linda

Angela Ferrari is a gifted artist and author with a creative imagination that is sure to delight young children. Her book What Do You See? encourages children to look around to see lines, first hidden, then revealed, through wonderful illustrations.

For the very young child, An Extraordinary Book is pure delight. The book becomes part of the child’s playtime as Ferrari suggests what you can do next with this book. From wearing a hat to steering a ship, or wearing it as a hat, this book is just plain fun.

Digger’s Daily Routine is a beautiful picture book and the longest story of the three. It showcases the popping colors Angela is fond of using in her artwork. Digger the Dog discovers an extraordinary adventure when he steps out of his ordinary daily routine. It’s rhyming text make this a fun one for a read aloud.

Well, Linda said it well. We’ll be reading these to our granddaughters for years to come, with enthusiasm. And yes, they are extraordinary!

Angela’s beautiful art is featured at one of our favorite restaurants, Hot Suppa, in Portland, where her partner Alec is the manager and his brother Mo is the chef.

You should also check out Angela’s Story Spectacular, a children’s story podcast that is free. You can subscribe on Apple Podcasts, ITunes, GooglePlay, or wherever you get your podcasts. We’ll be signing little Ada up for this.
